One of my favorite manga with a comedic premise and a dark tone is “The Way of the Househusband”. On the surface, it’s hilarious—a feared ex-yakuza boss turns into a stay-at-home husband, obsessing over coupons and bento recipes. But what makes it stick with me is the underlying tension: this guy hasn’t escaped his past. Every interaction, no matter how absurd, is shadowed by the idea that violence was once his language. It's that mix of deadpan comedy and quiet danger that makes it so addictive for me. You laugh, but there’s always this weight lingering in the background.

On the flip side, “Ao Haru Ride” completely got me in the feels. It’s a heartfelt, deeply romantic story about two people reconnecting after years apart, carrying scars from their past. I remember staying up way too late reading it, caught up in how raw and vulnerable it felt. There’s something so genuine in how they navigate misunderstandings, personal growth, and learning to trust again. It reminded me of how timing matters in relationships, and how love sometimes shows up when you’re finally ready to face yourself.

Both stories couldn’t be more different, but they’ve stayed with me—one for its surprising emotional depth beneath the comedy, and the other for how real and tender it feels.
